El trabajo de Eastman surge de un estudio pictórico de imágenes derivadas de revistas de moda, objetos decorativos y representaciones de figuras populares, que se entrelazan con narrativas personales. Sus pinturas, a menudo en un formato pequeño e íntimo, contienen pinceladas sueltas y, a menudo, parecen estar ejecutadas de una manera intencionalmente tosca, que busca desenfocar la imagen y despojarla del delicado encanto inicial. A través de esto, y como dice Eastman, rompe y cuestiona la pesada herencia que cayó sobre sus hombros en el momento en que decidió pintar.

    Mari Eastman (1970, Berkeley, CA) vive y trabaja en Chicago. Ha estudiado en la School of the Art Institute de Chicago y en el Smith College en Northampton.

     

    Eastman ha tenido exposiciones individuales en The Green Gallery a Milwaukee, WI (2023); Goldfinch Gallery en Chicago, IL (2021); Bombon Projects en Barcelona, Spain (2020); Grifter en New York City, NY (2020); Monte Clark Gallery en Vancouver, Canada (2016); y Cherry and Martin en Los Angeles, CA (2011), entre otras.
